Cryosurgery is a quick, out-patient technique comprising the treatment of multiple lesions in a single session. It makes it possible to repeat the applications and, in most cases, no anesthesia is required.
It is a valuable alternative to classical proceedures such as electro coagulation, radiotherapy or conventional surgery. It is mainly used in children, the elderly, in cases of high surgical risk, in people allergic to anesthetics, pacemaker patients or to treat previously irradiated lesions.
It involves the application of cold using liquid nitrogen.
In Clinical Dermatology and Aesthetic Dermatology, cryosurgery has gained considerable acceptance due to the possibility of applying out-patient treatments that are fast and have satisfactory aesthetic results.
